I recently had an interesting conversation with the CFO of a mid-sized organisation. He told me about the plans to replace their existing ERP system. The board had decided to give the project a code name. The reason for that? “You don't want to think about the amount of unrest that could arise if this news were to leak prematurely”, he explained.
I find it remarkable how tensely many organizations deal with these kinds of changes.
Naturally, the announcement of such a project brings with it tension and uncertainty. And many questions come to the table, such as:
- can (and do) I get used to the new system?
- what does the implementation mean for my current function?
- do I still have a future in the new organization?
Achieving project success without the buy-in of your end users is impossible! And that starts with taking all of these concerns seriously:
- Transparent communication
- honesty about project goals
- provide space for asking questions
- and give feedback on suggestions
are all ways to increase the involvement of your teams.
You will learn this lesson and many other aspects of effective communication in the ERP Masterclass.
A ‘must do’ for organizations that strive to achieve Project Success.
